Bio

I have been interested in cameras and photography both as a science and as an art. While in high school, I studied computers and programming in my spare time and learned about computational challenges relating to graphics, color, and image compression. At the time I was also studying physics in high school, and this exposure to optics contributed to my interest in photography as a science. Later, in college, I grew to love the artistic side, when I received my first dSLR camera as a gift.

My first dSLR was a Nikon D3000. I started my artistic journey with nature and still-life photography. After teaching myself photography and color grading in Adobe Lightroom, I purchased an upgrade to a Nikon D7000, which was more appropriate for fast-paced event photography. I took photos at events at Missouri University of Science & Technology and University of Memphis. At U of M, I joined the newly established Asian American Association and became one of their event photographers.

I worked at Jimmy Alford Studios, Inc. as a studio portrait photographer while I paused my college degree. At Jimmy Alford I worked with high school seniors and their parents to create yearbook photos and personal photos.

After this, in 2018, I realized I was using Photography as a diversion from finishing my degree in Computer Science, so I sold my camera and returned to college. After graduating in 2020, I worked minimum wage jobs outside of my degree area, failing to secure an entry-level position within Software Engineering or IT due to the COVID lockdown increasing competition for remote work.

In December 2021, I secured my first job in IT at ALSAC/St. Jude. I finally returned to photography in late 2022, upon request of a friend to help make a menu and website photos for his new restaurant concept, IBIS Restaurant, in downtown Memphis. Follow their Instagram.
